Increasing your traffic using Twitter For Business
Posted on August 31st, 2009 No commentsTwitter has created quite a buzz in the last few months with a army of stars and celebrities integrating Twitter on their podcasts , and business strategists saying that we can leverage Twitter to hundreds of fans , the talk about Twitter is hard to avoid . You probably know people who are on Twitter and suppliers may have invited you to join them on Twitter . That segues us to our main topic . What are YOU doing about it for yourself?
Twitter doesn’t look like it will disappear any time soon. In the meantime some are jumping on the band wagon, while others sit in the sidelines bemused.
But however you approach your Twitter strategy and there’s a great FREE training video about that at http://www.TrafficHug.com/twittervideo/ but whatever you do, you should be doing something. The least you’re likely to achieve is a handful of great relationships , ideally with some way of people finding you by your keyword, or your name. I mean a few people are just going to wonder if your business (or you) are on Twitter and type in twitter dot com slash acme widgets. Now it will be embarrassing is a cyber squatter is sitting on your own name, so another good reason to make sure you secure your place in the Twit’o’sphere. (By the way things can be done about cyber squatters, just ask me.)
We have other articles on getting targeted traffic, but let’s look at something we can do today A right now We’ll take a more detailed look at conversion tactics but first let’s explore a quick and easy option.
A lot of people perceive Twitter traffic as coming from within Twitter itself . A concept most Twitter directories promote . But with Twitter , the advantages of having your existing customers subscribe to you on Twitter are many fold. So enormous that we need to take action today .
One thing we can do almost immediately is to add a Twitter “badge” to your web properties . It’s simply a graphic saying who you are on Twitter with an active link to your Twitter profile. In the videos I mentioned , you’ll see how , but we’ll stick to just the badge for now .
WHERE CAN I CREATE MY TWITTER BADGE?
You can get your own customised Twitter badge at zero cost from this website ;
http://wwwTwitterHug.com/twitter/category/badge/ – Free Twitter badge .You just paste the HTML it provides in to your page .
It also works on Wordpress blogs. I’ve placed them on all of my own blogs.
It is contained in its own HTML DIV so should exist fine almost anywhere.
If you create a table or div tag to position it in , then you can just paste the code in verbatim . With WYSIWYG html editors, there is usually an HTML “object” box you can place in the desired location and just place the code in to that. Adobe Dreamweaver users can just insert an AP Layer (from the insert menu) and then paste the code in to that using the HTML code view pane.
The rewards from promoting your own Twitter profile are immense. From SEO to relationships to direct sales.
