Hawaii: Charming, Exotic and Memorable
Posted on June 13th, 2010 No commentsAhhh Gorgeous Hawaii is one of the topmost visitor attractions within the world. For a good reason too! This group of islands offers beauty beyond compare and does not need a passport for United States visitors. It is the 50th of the fifty states, but the culture here is so various it feels like you’re in a whole different country.
There are eight major island destinations to explore located in Hawaii: The Big Island (Hawaii), The Valley Isle (Maui), The Target Isle (Kahoolawe), The Pineapple Isle (Lanai), The Friendly Isle (Molokai), The Gathering Place (Oahu), The Garden Isle (Kauai) and The Forbidden Isle (Niihau).
The language in Hawaii is absolutely beautiful. It’s of Polynesian origin, but English is the main language within the islands. There has been a considerable move in recent years to re-emphasize the usage of the Hawaiian language in order to also pass along the rich and diverse heritage of ancient Hawaii in the schools.
Mauna Kea is the archipelago’s highest mountain and it is on the Big Island. Although it is formally recorded to be 13,796 feet in height it’s higher compared with Mt. Everest when measured from the starting point of the mountain at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean; an astounding 33,500 feet!.
Hawaii’s tropical climate is prized year round with the lowest temperatures approaching just 60 degrees. Trade winds will blow through the islands making a significantly lower humidity when compared with many other tropical locations. The islands also have basically two different seasons, dry and wet. Dry months are from April to October and the wet season is from November to March.
For anyone who is searching for a history lesson whilst traveling to the Islands then it provides that also. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and brought America into the second World War. Today you can visit Pearl Harbor to learn about specifically what occurred on that eventful day.
Major towns on the islands, which are suggested to view, include Honolulu (that is the capital), Hilo, Pearl City, Waimea, Lahaina, Kohala, Waipahu and Kapolei. Every town affords its own particular contribution together with a extraordinary holiday getaway adventure.
The Hawaiian Islands offer several distinct culture groups that, through the years, have made Hawaii home. To name a few, Polynesian, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Chinese, German, English, Irish, Portuguese, Italian, African, French, Mexican, Scottish and Puerto Rican. Each have left their own mark.
This brief description isn’t really adequate to do this visitor location justice. A visit would be necessary to actually come to know Hawaii’s natural beauty and heritage – just ask someone fortunate enough to have spent some time on any of the islands.
