We All Have Heard of Weight Watchers
Posted on October 4th, 2009 No commentsA Closer Look
Well, they say that it is not a diet. However, they do believe that it is a way of life. Sounds interesting enough! You basically get to eat what you like while putting your main focus on the nutrition intake. Basically, you choose foods that you like and Weight Watchers also provides you with a wide variety of recipes that you can choose from. Some of the plans include whole grains and low fat foods with fruits and vegetables. There are two main plans that you can choose from and stick to. You have the choice of the Flex Plan where you basically eat anything while keeping track of the point values. Then there is the Core Plan where you can eat as much nutritional food as you want to because they help to keep you fuller for a longer period of time.
More than Just Food
You would probably think that, just like with any other diet, all you basically have are the instructions laid out for you. Maybe a couple of books that you probably would never read and the choice of foods and supplements that you will need all conveniently written on a list. Well, think again because, with the Weight Watchers Diet, you get more than all of that. There are actual meetings that you can attend, even online. There is a newsletter as well as several recipes. Have you ever noticed that there is also a line of Weight Watchers foods in your grocers freezer? Well, that is another great thing about this ‘diet’. They offer frozen foods but they are not required to be eaten for this diet.
Is this the Right Diet for Me?
Consider this: being able to prepare foods that your family can even eat. There is no more special dinner preparations for you. That is one thing that you can consider. Are you willing to continue the diet as a way of life and not just some short term fad diet? Are you willing to count calorie intake and keep up with balancing your nutritional intake as well as calories and fat? As with most diets, exercise is important; so, are you willing to add exercise to your diet as well? Consider the meetings and undivided support that you will have. There is no doubt that a combination of 45 years of expertise and leaders will be there to walk you through anything that you need help with. The leaders have been successful with the diet, so they aren’t just a so called expert, they actually have hands on experience and a success story to share with you.
Maybe it isn’t the Right Diet?
Well, that is definitely something that you will want to talk to your doctor about first. Perhaps it is overwhelming because of all it entails and you don’t know whether you can handle it. Keeping up with all of the calories, weight, fat intake or counting everything; who has the time for all of that? You don’t think that you could continue this for any length of time? These are questions that you will definitely want to ask yourself. Your answers will help you decide.
So What Can I Eat?
There are so many recipes to choose from that there is bound to be something that you will like. Not to mention the wide variety of Weight Watchers frozen food. You have a choice to pretty much eat what you want but keep up with counting calories and fat that you consume. Then, of course, there is another plan in which you choose to eat nutritional foods and eat as much as you like to eat because they are nutritional. There is even a plan for men. This is a program designed specifically for men because their structure is different than a woman’s. They tell you the proper exercising to follow, etc.
There are many things that you should take into consideration when you are initiating a diet. First of all, be sure that you are fully aware of all that is entailed in the diet. Make sure that you understand what is expected of you as well. Then, of course, you are going to want to talk with your doctor about it. This may not be the right one for you and he will help you make that decision. Know their philosophy and the ins and outs of the diet. Speak to others who have tried it. Keep in mind that like with any diet, it is wise to exercise while on it. This may just be the right diet for you considering the great support system that they have. When considering this diet, the pro’s may have out done the con’s.

Corfu Island Greece
Posted on October 4th, 2009 No commentsThe most northerly and, with Greece’s highest rainfall, the greenest of the Ionian Islands. Corfu lies close to the mainland and the Albanian coast. Described by Homer as ‘beautiful and rich’, it is mountainous, lushly fertile and fringed by fine beaches with lovely aquamarine waters.
From the 8th century BC, Corfu was subject to a succession of powers, though it never became part of the Ottoman Empire.
Venice held it for 200 years, then Napoleon seized it, and for some years it was a British Protectorate. Long a favourite with travelers, its quiet, idiosyncratic life is lovingly recorded in the books of Lawrence and Gerald Durrell. Now despite some indiscriminate tourist development, it remains bewitching.
Corfu Town is a lovely place, a blend of splendid Italianate buildings; narrow alleyways and grand, French-influenced arcades. There are museums and fine churches, including the Church of Ayios Spyridhon, where the mummified body of the island’s patron saint lies in a glass-fronted coffin. (It is paraded through the town several times a year.) A popular excursion is to the photogenic islets of Vlaherna and Pondikonissi.
North from Corfu Town, brash or prestigious resorts are interspersed with fishing harbours and backed by magnificent scenery. Southwards lie the site of the ancient capital, Corcyra, and some large resorts.
Then a winding coastal road reaches some quieter beaches. The west coast boasts long stretches of glorious sand, a backdrop of green mountains – and some of the largest hotel conglomerations. Even here, more peaceful coves can be reached by boat, or a scramble on foot.
Inland, traditional villages offer shade and good food. Corfiot cuisine, unusually, has no Turkish influence, and often seems more Italian than Greek. A stroll and a climb in scented mountain air amid ancient olive trees rewards with views over ethereal greenness towards the heavenly blue sea.

Why in the world would You Want a Coffee Alternative?
Posted on October 4th, 2009 No commentsWell we all joke about the delirious effects of our beloved Java Juice but in the end we know deep down the stuff is just really not good for us.
Everyone has likely seen the cartoon with the man holding a smoking shot gun standing next to the breakfast table with his family laying there dead as door nails. The caption below reads “a little bit too much caffeine this morning there Bob?”
Sure we laugh at it, but why? Well, because we can in some way relate. You see something is not really all that funny unless there is at least a little smattering of truth to it.
The fact of the matter is we all know what it feels like to have everything from just a little too much caffeine in our systems to whoa someone please stop the planet from shaking type of caffeine loads. And so then it really goes without saying that we should all stock up on a good coffee alternative and at least replace most of our caffeine that way.
One of the real dangers that we face every day with coffee is one that no one is really talking about much in the media these days. The challenge is, toxic pesticides. You see way back in 1972 we banned DDT from being used here in the good ole US of A, but U.S. Corporations still make it in various locations around the world. We make it because the R & D was paid for decades ago, so it’s really, really cheap to produce. Let me ask you, what countries are looking to buy the cheap stuff? You guessed it, 3rd world countries. Next question, who grows our coffee? Right again, 3rd world countries.
So, we ban DDT because we are sure it causes all manner of health problems for humans such as going blind, birth defects, DNA Damage ect.. There is a much longer list of all the problems it causes but I’m sure you get the drift.
We, then make DDT in outside of America under subsidiaries owned by U.S. companies. Then we turn around and sell it to the third world countries that are growing our coffee. They of course use it, why wouldn’t they, it’s the cheapest and it works really well at killing bugs. Let’s face it, if they are hand picking the beans because labor is cheaper than machines and they are carting the stuff down the mountainside on a Burro, do you really think they are paying top dollar for the newest high tech sprays?
No way, they are buying the cheapest sprays they can get that will kill the bugs so they can turn a profit. It’s really just a matter of economics, they simply can’t pay those high prices even if they wanted too.
That’s just one really good reason for you to get a world class coffee alternative as soon as possible. I wouldn’t want to be drinking that stuff, no way. You might say well what if it’s organic? My question to you is then this, in countries where you can forge just about any document for under $100 why wouldn’t a farmer say his crop is organic when it means thousands of dollars more into his pocket for the same amount of work. I’m not being pessimistic just looking at reality.
That’s why I so strongly urge you to get your hands on a high end coffee alternative as soon as possible so that you can safeguard your health.
