Boavista beats Jacqueline Gold’s Marbella
Posted on August 19th, 2009 No commentsI’ve been recently reading the autobiography by Jacqueline Gold, the CEO of Ann Summers stores who has had a roller coaster of a personal life and specifically can relate to various aspects of her life’s struggle as well as constant enthusiasm for living and never giving up.
I specifically recall from within the autobiography Jacqueline’s attachment to marbella costa del sol as she writes many times about how her friends and Jacqueline make an annual pilgrimage to marbella costa del sol for her girlie week in the sun. They book into a good hotel as a gang of them and do all the girlie stuff for a week and let their hair down, clearly also shopping is part of the trip too.
She mentions about a couple of times where when she’s down, Marbella is a good place to get away to and recover your energy and zest for life. Getting away to a different location always enables a fresh view of things to form as well as give new focus to emerse yourself in. Of course – for sun worshippers the thrill of chilling and tanning is always a pick me up.
This is where the story of Jacqueline particularly seem’s apt for me at the moment as I am looking for new adventures in life, to immerse oneself in solving worldly issuses or participate in a good cause where it puts our own life in perspective and how we can get the most out of our precious time on earh.
Anyhow, I digress…. here I am thinking about Jacqueline Gold and how she faces tragedy or setbacks in life and always has Marbella !! and I’m thinking Marbella’s ok, I’ve enjoyed myself their a few times already and I’m also part of an expanding holiday business who handles a lot of reservations for Marbella holidays, but its not what is going to cheer me up at this point,,… where else is there within easy travelling of the UK and somewhere I can be fully involved in something useful and possibly even environmental? I glimpsed at Mijas along Costa Del Sol – but lets look away from Spain… How about the Canaries ? Nope – a little further I think, Marakesh…. no, …
Then it hit me, Cape Verde! I’ve been looking to possibly invest in somewhere upcoming like Cape Verde – and then, like a higher power was controlling my mouse – I clicked on a link in Google for “Boa Vista Experience” and then into their forum to read what the English folk were talking about and their was an announcement that The Turtle Foundation were looking for Volunteers to help protect female Loggerhead turtles who were being slaughtered by poachers as they were coming ashore to lay their eggs for future turtles to grace our oceans !!! Eurika ! that was the moment I knew that I’d found what I needed to gain a clear perspective and rejuvenate my enthusiasm
Thankfully, my application as a volunteer to help The Turtle Foundation on Boavista was accepted, and I’m due to fly out for a whole new adventure and life experience for 7 weeks in Cape Verde on the 3rd August as the Turtle laying season just heats up and there’s reports coming in of masacred Turtles on some of Boavistas paradise beaches.. Check out my facebook updates in TURTLE FOUNDATION – Cabo Verde group page on Facebook and I’ll also be covering it in my main blog.

Multi Level Marketing Basics – The MLM Business Model
Posted on August 19th, 2009 No commentsMLM, or Multi Level Marketing, when combined with the Internet, creates a powerful formula for creating a successful home business and achieving financial freedom.
This business model is used by hundreds of companies to move their goods and services to the end consumer. In this article, my goal is to provide you with information on what this industry is and what it is not.
You can only make an informed educated decision as to whether or not this business concept if right for you if you have the required information upon which to make that decision. I hope to provide some of that information in this article.
Multi Level Marketing is simply a business model for moving products and services from production to the consumer using independent distributors with a multi level commission payout plan. Since distributors can recruit other distributors and establish teams that work together, this business model is often also called Network Marketing.
There are many myths about MLM companies, including that they are illegal pyramid schemes or scams. For true Multi Level Marketing companies, nothing could be further from the truth. Unfortunately, those who believe these myths, simply do not understand how MLM companies work.
The first thing that you need to know is that MLM is not illegal and it is not a pyramid scheme. While the organizational structure resembles a pyramid in shape, this is true of almost all businesses. There are far more workers in the lower ranks of any business then at the top, if not, the business would collapse. Not everyone in the company can be CEO or Vice President. If fact, Multi Level Marketing companies are one hundred percent legal and many multi-million dollar companies use this business model to market their products.
Some well known Multi Level Marketing companies include Herbalife, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Shaklee, Amway, Tupperware, Princess house (a subsidiary of Colgate Palmolive), A. L. Williams (Insurance), Melaleuca, U.S. Sprint, MCI, and NSA. Companies such as these have been around for decades.
There are hundreds more MLM companies and just like other companies, some are good and some are not so good. But MLM is certainly here to stay and it is an explosive growth field! In fact, increasingly you will find more and more Fortune 500 companies employing the Network Marketing business model for some portion of their marketing portfolio!
So why are MLM companies and programs becoming so popular? Well, the business model offers a wonderful opportunity for the “little guy” to start his own business on a part time basis with very little investment money upfront, but with a large income potential if she or he is willing to put in some work! Contrary to what some people would want you to believe, MLM is certainly not a get rich quick scheme and requires effort to grow your business.
John Paul Getty is often quoted as having said that he would always prefer earning 1% of a hundred peoples efforts than 100% of his own efforts. And that is precisely what Multi Level Marketing is all about. The Multi Level Marketing sales force members are not actually employees of the company, but instead they are independent distributors who are compensated for their efforts by commission based on the amount of product moved by not only themselves, but also by those whom they recruit as distributors.
As each distributor recruits others to become distributors, they create what is known as a downline and in addition to their own retail sales commissions, they earn a wholesale commission on the amount of products their downline distributors move to consumers. This process goes on for some designated number of levels and is where the term “multi level” originates.
The more people a distributor can recruit for his downline, the larger will be their total commissions. The number of levels that a distributor will earn override commissions on will depend upon the company’s compensation plan but five to seven or more levels is not unusual. These wholesale override commissions can quickly add up for distributors with a large downline.
A strong incentive is thus created not only for a distributor to recruit more distributors for their downline, but also to train them to move products as well. Thus a successful distributor will want to duplicate their success by teaching their downline members how to be successful. By making their downline members successful, they make themselves more successful.
Building large stable residual income is therefore the result of successfully recruiting, training, and retaining others. The better one is at doing these things, the larger their income will become. While it is not necessarily easy, it can be very rewarding.
Want to be your own boss? Millions of people are earning a solid income using this business model working from home. A telephone, basic computer, fax machine, a HUGE ambition, and the knowledge of how to proceed to grow your business are all it really takes! Are you ready to explore the opportunities that Multi Level Marketing offers?
If so, did you know that sponsoring people into your MLM opportunity is completely irrelevant to making money in network marketing? (And no, I’m not talking about retailing your company’s products). Find out how you can get people to PAY YOU to prospect them… rather than you having to pay for your prospects. Click here to learn more at => The Renegade Network Marketer

The Road to Employee Satisfaction
Posted on August 18th, 2009 No commentsI am not happy. The printer has still not been fixed and now my chair is broken. The company is falling apart. My boss is okay but has no clue what is going on.
A young lad started last Monday, no one bothered to introduce him to me and they gave him a job that he had no idea how to do; why didn’t they just ask me? For a start I could have let them know them a new set of plans have been released so even if they did know what they were doing the drawings they are using are out of date anyway. I don’t know why I bother sometimes.
Some of us went out for a drink after work last night. No one is happy and Sally from Accounts says that she has just about had enough and is thinking of asking for a rise and if they don’t give it to her she is going to quit.
The management here just don’t have a clue, we are haemorrhaging money through our inefficiencies and they think that sending out memo’s telling us that they are introducing new procedures for claiming expenses is going to make a difference – whoopee do.
I think I’ll ask for a pay rise, if Sally from Accounts can get one I can.
And so it goes on.
When a company loses touch with their employees these are the sort of thoughts that start to play on the minds of individuals; the lack of appreciation, a broken chair, the blaming of ‘management’, even questioning the futility of what they are doing. Minor problems fester and a sceptical and critical state of mind develops. Can you be sure that it isn’t going on right now in your organisation?
Social events outside the office become nothing more than a forum for complaints and negativity grows among people who feel powerless to effect change. Dissatisfaction will often synthesise into a demand for an increase in remuneration, as though like a cheap fix more money will momentarily lessen the pain.
Left by management, undiscovered and unaware, the concerns of this employee will inevitable find solace with their colleagues own individual concerns, where the only common demand will be for an increase in remuneration, more paid holidays and a reduction in working hours, all of which will not fix the broken chair, ensure that new personnel are in future properly introduced, trained and managed nor help management identify areas of inefficiency.
Organisations have a habit of pigeon holing people, physically through offices, cubicles or workstations and also in terms of responsibility. It can prove productive if there is effective and strong management in place to support this structure, but over time weak or inappropriate management can infiltrates the management chain and if it does it can be expected that cracks will start to appear.
From the top down all can appear rosy in the corporate garden as the weak and inappropriate manager reports that all is well in the engine room, oblivious to the fact that their coal stocks might be dwindling.
Experience shows us that relying on a limited number of indicators gives a skewed perspective just like a person with only one eye has difficulty judging distance. By establishing procedures that sample the mood from different perspectives throughout the organisation good management will be able to form a rounded picture.
The benefits of establishing good, frequent and extensive communication channels are both direct and indirect.
Greater respect will be given to a senior management team that is known to have their ear to the ground and where they keep the middle management honest by knowing that middle managers can no longer shrug away the senior manager’s searching inquiry “How is everything going?” question with a non-committal “Fine”; It is my experience that if someone replies with “fine” you need to dig deeper and ask if they really know what is going on.
Most principals of an organisation will not have the luxury of spending time walking the floor and discussing the issues of individuals but through online employee surveys they can achieve the same benefits and almost become omnipresent.
Online surveys provide an ideal method to establish good and effective communications between the employer and employee. Using a survey hosting service they can now be created and published with ease and speed.
Surveys can be deployed in seconds by utilising the Internet and intranet, they can be completed easily by employees and the results analyzed in real-time exposing the ‘problems’ and giving early warning towards common themes of dissatisfaction.
Online employee satisfaction surveys have the ability to get to the heart of an organisation, confirm not only that the engine room is working but that there is sufficient coal in the bunker.
Online surveys provide many benefits, not only do they help identified concerns, but the employees voices are heard and their views, right or wrong, have a forum.
Online surveys will not in themselves resolve a problem but what they will do is give senior management the opportunity to address the problems and concerns of their employees, if people then leave the organisation they will at least hopefully be doing it for the right and not wrong reasons.
Although monetary concerns can often be cited as the main reason good people decide to leave a company dig a little deeper and it is often found that it is more to do with one or more of the following:-
- the working environment;
- a lack of accomplishment
- insufficient training and feedback;
- lack of career growth;
- over work;
- lack of trust and respect with the senior management.
A well planned employer/employee communications programme that can identify the individual and common concerns of employees will give senior management the opportunity to address root problems and not just the symptoms of employee dissatisfaction, allowing them to demonstrate to their employees that they are not viewed simply as interchangeable parts that can be used for any job at hand.
Each individual organisation needs to customised their own employee survey so that it is relevant for them. To get an idea as to how effective online surveys can be try completing the sample employee survey, then view the results of the satisfaction questionnaire and just think of the benefits to management being able to measure so easily the heart beat of the organization.

Here Are Some Drop Shipping Product Ideas
Posted on August 17th, 2009 No commentsThere are actually thousands of ordinary people, many like you, who have begun earning an money on the Internet. These people did not invent any great new invention, nor do they make their own merchandise. As a matter of fact, they don’t even stock the stuff they sell! How is this possible? It simple to do with a drop shipping business.
How do you break into the drop shipping business? It’s actually very easy – you can do it with your own web page, or even without a web site by using free sites like eBay or Squidoo. Set up a PayPal account, put your products online, and you are done. But where do you get the products?
The system of drop shipping has been with us for years – even before the advent of the Internet. The way it works is simple – you advertise and sell the products- and your drop ship supplier ships the orders to your clients – with your company name on the paperwork. The customer has no idea or cares that the product did not come from you directly. Some great product ideas include drop ship electronic products, drop ship clothes or drop ship electronic items.
The benefits of the technique are easy to see – no stock costs, no stockroom, no shipping hassles. You should use a honest source to locate your vendors, however. Don’t use web sites that try to sell you items directly, only purchase direct from the firm that actually sells or distributes the products normally. You will be shocked how many product makers will agree to dropship their products.
