How the plan works and what is covered: The AARP Dental Insurance Plan is a dental PPO, called Delta Dental PPO. This gives you the freedom to see any licensed dentist and change dentists without notifying Delta Dental. The Delta Dental PPO network includes over 67,000 dentist locations nationwide. While you may see any dentist you like, you maximize your benefits if you visit one of the Delta Dental PPO dentists. These dentists are part of a select group who have agreed to provide treatment to Delta Dental PPO patients at a reduced fee. Since Delta Dental has prenegotiated these fees, your out of pocket expenses will likely be lower.

When visiting a Delta Dental PPO dentist, you don’t have to pay the entire bill and then wait for reimbursement from Delta Dental. Instead our portion is paid directly to the dentist. We then send a notice explaining your portion of the bill and you are expected to pay only that amount to the dentist. Delta Dental PPO dentists also handle all claims and paperwork for you.
