• The Bad Advice Of Other Smokers

Posted on June 30th, 2009 Mark No comments

Do you trust an addict? Have you ever had a friend who was addicted to one of life’s most troubling addictions, heroin or cocaine? Even if you haven’t, then I’m sure that you will have heard stories about how you should never trust a junkie or else be prepared to have things stolen from you.

Now, of course, smokers are not that desperate as we have already discussed. Cigarettes are just affordable and also widely available. But many smokers are fooled by their addiction and will give bad advice or show strange behaviour to fellow smokers, especially those who want to stop.

When you stop smoking (that’s “when”, not “if”!) after reading this book, and you tell your smoker friends that you have stopped, I guarantee you that at least one of them will offer you a cigarette.

They will offer you a cigarette and then jokingly pretend that they had forgotten that you had stopped smoking. This happened to myself several times after stopping and it will happen to you as well! It has nothing to do with people forgetting that you had stopped smoking (how could they forget such a major event) and everything to do with addiction affecting behaviour. When your friends offer you cigarettes, their addictive-bent emotions are telling them that they have lost a fellow “addict friend” and they want you to rejoin the club.

This is all on a subconscious level. Maybe you don’t believe me but, as I said, I guarantee that this will happen to you at least once.

Do not trust the quitting smoking advice of a smoker. Would you trust a skiing coach who could not even ski himself? Then why would you trust a smoker to advise you on the best way to quit? You can only trust someone who has stopped smoking to advise you on how to quit your addiction.

On the other hand, would you trust a former addict? Would you trust someone who used to be an addict but found a way out and looks like never going back to those dark days?

You have a choice – trust the addict and remain an addict for life or trust me and your addiction will become a thing of the past.

  • Pondering New Precious Bedding

Posted on June 30th, 2009 Mark No comments

In some parts of the world, a second bed sheet is placed on top of the sheet that covers the mattress. This second sheet is referred to as a “top sheet.” When this top sheet is put in use, the sheet directly on the mattress is referred to as a “bottom sheet.” A sleeper lies between the two sheets. Blankets, comforters, and any additional bed covers are put above the second bed sheet.

What the thread count determines is the comfort of the fabric. A good rule of thumb is that the higher the thread count number, the softer the sheets will be. How many of us at some time or another have slept on scratchy sheets or those that are so thin you can almost see through them. We spend a long time asleep during out lifetime so it’s really important to make our sleeping experience as pleasant as possible. That is what bed sheets are like.

Bed sheets are available in two types: flat and fitted. A flat bed sheet is nothing more than a rectangular-shaped piece of linen. A fitted bed sheet features four corners with elastic bands around the edges and is used as a bottom sheet. A reason for using a fitted bottom sheet is to prevent it from slipping off of the mattress while the sleeper moves around on the bed. A unique method of folding and tucking while making up a bed is referred to as “hospital corners,” and this is typically employed when the bottom sheet is flat as opposed to fitted. This is what bed in a bag sets are like.

Remember, bed sheets are a critical factor in feeling the quality of your bed, and as we spend on average one third of our life there, we may as well make it as comfortable as possible, so buy good quality linen.

A winter just isn’t complete without warm flannel sheets. Most people exclusively use flannel sheets in the cold months, because they will become “sweaty” in hot ones. In addition, many manufacturers have begun to produce flannel comforters and blankets to match the patterns on the sheets. This is what flannel sheets are like. What about you? Are you a cotton person or silk? Do you want a frivolous thread count, or will 250 do? Think about your options carefully before you shop for bed sheets and then enjoy your choice.

  • hospitality management online university, online community college, ask how to

Posted on June 30th, 2009 Mark No comments

Many people think that the distinctive feature of community colleges is that they offer two-year degrees, but they differ from four-year colleges in many other ways as well.

In fact, community colleges meet the needs of many students that are not as well served by four-year institutions. That is why they have grown so much in recent history.

The low cost of community colleges has helped attract students who may have otherwise failed to continue their educations beyond secondary school. This extends to vocational studies such as hospitality management online university that can help further one’s career as well. In particular, community colleges seem to enroll a far greater percentage of adult students, minority students, and part time students than four year colleges and universities.

Aside from very affordable tuition and fees, community colleges attract students with a very simply, non-threatening application process. First of all, their open admissions policies assure admission to all high school graduates and/or everyone who has earned a GED. And, community college applicants need not take the ACT or SAT, submit letters of recommendations, or write essays. Community college admissions policies reflect their mission; to afford easy access to all.

Four year colleges and universities, particularly those which are most selective, require applicants to submit their admissions applications and supporting credentials well before the beginning of the semester in which they hope to enroll. At a community college, enrolling the day before classes begin is unlikely to be a problem for a student willing to spend a little time in line.

Generally, an online community college admits all applicants. But, before beginning in some degree programs, it may be necessary to complete courses in prescribed subject areas or otherwise demonstrate program-related proficiency.

A big community college selling point is that community colleges focus on offering classes at times and places most convenient for working adults. Only online colleges offer more flexibility. Find out more at our ask how to guide.

  • New Home Dyslexia Test

Posted on June 30th, 2009 Mark No comments

A common problem in most systems of education is that of children with learning disabilities. One of the more common learning disabilities is that caused by dyslexia. Dyslexia seems to be caused by a miss-comunication between the eyes and the brain; the signals get sent but the brain does not interpret them clearly. The result is that dyslexic people (dyslexics) see things differently.

Dyslexia frequently manifests itself in problems with reading. In order to read, a person must interpret letters grouped together on paper into words/thoughts. To read aloud they must convert these symbols into the sounds of spoken words. In reading silently they must translate these symbols into words and thoughts.

The word “dyslexia” itself, consists of “dys” -not working, as in “dysfunctional” and “lexia” – having to do with reading, words, documents. It is based on this often observed problem with reading.|The origin of the term “dyslexia” is in the idea of “problems with reading”. The word is made up of “dys” as in not functioning and “lexia” from pertaining to books, reading, word orders.

Approximately 1 person in every 10 has some type of dyslexia, to some degree. There are symptoms of dyslexia that one can look for, such as difficulty with reading for understanding, or with reading aloud. But there is really only one way to know for sure whether a person has dyslexia or not and to what degree. And that is through dyslexia testing.

In the last year, in a new development, an excellent accredited dyslexia test has become available online. This means that there is now an accurate and economical home dyslexia test that you can take in the privacy of your home or office (anywhere you have an Internet connection) at any time. The entire test takes a little over half an hour. Also, it’s very economical; costs less than a visit to your Doctor!

Might you be dyslexic? Do you know someone that might be? There are millions of adult dyslexics who are unaware that dyslexia is their problem. A quick test could be their first step in overcoming dyslexia. It could get them started to achieving their full potential and leading a better life! Click on any link above to get full details…
